The Nursing Foundation of Maryland
Seeks Applicants for 2010 Education Scholarships

The Nursing Foundation of Maryland (NFM) is seeking applications for their 2010 Nursing Scholarships, awarded to those baccalaureate nursing students demonstrating scholarship, commitment and potential for leadership in the practice of nursing. The Foundation will award up to four scholarships not to exceed $2,000 each. Applicants may be entry-level baccalaureate nursing students, or Registered Nurses with an Associate Degree who are completing a baccalaureate degree in nursing.

Applicants must meet the following criteria of eligibility:
*Currently accepted or enrolled in an accredited baccalaureate nursing education program in Maryland
*Resident of Maryland
*Scheduled to receive a baccalaureate degree in nursing within the 2010-2011 academic year
*GPA of 3.0 our of 4.0 or higher in prior college coursework
*Demonstrate involvement in community service
*Provide at least two letters of reference which indicate scholarship, commitment, service and potential for leadership in the practice of nursing, at least one of which is from an MNA member and one from a faculty member.

The applicant should be able to attend the annual Awards Banquet at the Maryland Nurses Association Convention to receive the scholarship. The recipient will be a guest of the Nursing Foundation at the Awards Banquet.

2. The application must be in the NFM office by the close of business on September 15, 2010. It may be mailed, faxed, or e-mailed.
3. The application must be accompanied by an official transcript of grades and documentation of enrollment in an accredited BSN program in Maryland and two letters of reference.
