New 2011 application will be posted shortly. Use last year's application for informational purposes.
Sherman Teacher Education Scholarship
The program leverages UMBC's strengths in science, technology, engineering and mathematics to address the shortage of highly qualified math and science teachers and the achievement gap that exists between students from low-income families and their counterparts. The program seeks to use UMBC's capabilities in teacher preparation, experiential education and leadership development to increase the number of outstanding STEM students in teacher-education. Graduates of the program will teach in high-needs schools in the Baltimore region, focusing on Baltimore City. Awards range from $5000-$10,000 per year.
